Oh! That was slick. You are correct to a high degree. In 1967 I got a road tour of northern Argentina with an engineer that was testing carburetors (remember those?), we put a couple of thousand miles on the car full of gauges and old style paper recorders. I think me and my buddy were basically ballast to duplicate a normally loaded passenger car (we were 17 at the time). In the north, a region called Entre Rios, on the border between Paraguay and Brazil, we stopped at villages where the entire population was blonde and blue eyed. The kids barefoot and in shorts close to rags, played soccer in the dirt streets. The main language of the village was German, not Spanish. The houses looked like they were cloned from Bavaria. Quite an experience.
