When re-reading some stuff about the adoption of the M17/M18 pistol I noticed something I missed.
The double action for re-strike requirement was dropped.
Back in the XM9 trials, that prevented FN and Glock from entering the competition.
But it was must-have back then.
I wonder what changed in the minds of the people writing the specifications.
Perhaps it's what changed in their wallets? But none dare accuse them of taking bribes.
Some of it must be the changing winds of fashion and trainers changing from, "pull the trigger again," to, "rack the slide," in the event of a failure to fire.
