Is that some kind of ECM pod atop the tail?
ReplyDeleteThat is the fairing for the ARI.18228 radar warning receiver antenna. The Brits seemed particularly adverse to adding any form of active or passive jamming to their tactical aircraft until Tornado.
DeleteI was blessed not only to get a joy ride in the back seat of an F4E Phantom but to actually get stick time (about 5 minutes) in the skies over Germany!

I had a friend of my father's who was a pilot at the Miramar RAG who snagged me a ride in the back seat of an F-14A. No stick time because there was no stick back there; but totally incredible!
