Glock Gadget Thingy

I was wondering if the thumb strap on a holster pressing on it would prevent firing like it does on a hammer equipped gun.

I remember seeing a "how it works" diagram with internals shown, but I can't find it now.

    1. Pushing on the back plate would keep it from firing.

Back to the original question, slightly rephrased.

Will a thumbstrap be enough to hold the back-plate and keep it from firing?
