The Lovely Harvey shot me a page with a listings for all the Veteran's Day promotions this year.
Lots of free grub out there for those who've served.
Once again, though, there's some stand-outs that don't seem to grasp the idea of veteran.
First, they could save a lot of money going by the original definition of veteran. Someone who's been in the fight and seen the elephant.
But in America when we mean veteran we mean someone who has an honorable discharge.
So a give-away for active duty with military ID kind of misses who Nov 11 is for.
If we didn't have Armed Forces Day, (third Saturday in May), I could see rolling them together.
Lots of places, like Golden Corral, do roll their armed forces appreciation together with veterans appreciation.
Several, though, are excluding vets on veterans day.
Bonefish Grill, Cheeseburger in Paradise, IKEA, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, and Twin Peaks (no links).
It's a small slight, but the smallest slights, like papercuts, are most irritating.
Don't misunderstand me, I think those presently serving should get a free burger or three, but not on veteran's day. Give them their goodies in May.
