Repeat Purchase

In three Steve Jackson Games GURPS titles...  High-Tech, High-Tech: Pulp Guns (two volumes), and High-Tech: Adventure Guns...

First things first.  Pulp Guns and Adventure Guns require High-Tech to explain many of the stats, lots of things aren't explained in the Basic Set.  They are not stand alone products.

Yet... going off the main weapon description and not a sub-variation described in the text...

It would not be so bad if the stats were identical.  There's some variance between books and no guidance as to which is best used where.

There's just no excuse for requiring we buy High Tech and then repeating a weapon listed there.  Maybe if the repeated entry expanded on the weapon, like the Luger entry in Adventure Guns, I'd be more sanguine.

Since Steve Jackson has gone to an all-pdf format for their new GURPS releases, I can't even browse the book in the store to see if it's all repeat.

Another quibble about Pulp Guns and Adventure Guns... Some of the new entries are extra esoteric.  The scarcity is not stressed on some guns and it would be unusual for a single party to have more than one.

Or like the case that happened with my SEALs in Vietnam game:  Every player took a gun that was only observed singly in the teams in the time-frame the game was set.  No platoon went to the field with all of them at once, but my players...
