GOA emailed me bragging about what we got from the Big Beautiful Bill® the other day, how it was their goal from the start and how happy we should be about it.
Today they share a video from VSO Gun Channel that's complaining about being stabbed in the back by the Republican Party.
For fuck's sake, pick a fucking lane!
It's OK to say, "This is what we hoped to get, we didn't get it, but we got something and what we got, while not perfect, is at least a step in the right direction."
GOA has never understood how the sausage is made.

I'll take the incremental win.
A $0 tax plus registration lays the groundwork to have it declared unconstitutional because its entire legality hinges on it being a tax. $0 is not a tax. Sucks that it's going to take FOREVER to get it through the courts, but...
Incremental works. After all, that's how we got the poop-show of the NFA and the GCA and all the other attacks upon the simple phrase of "Shall not be infringed."
ReplyDeleteIf we don't shoot for the stands, we won't ever get to any of the lesser goals, because demanding everything gives room for some things. Start out incrementally and there's not much room for wiggling at all.
I'll take every win I can get.
DeleteWhat I am sick of is the emails. "We got everything removed from the NFA except MGs! We rock! Aren't we great!" then "We got the tax reduced from $200 to $0! We rock! Aren't we great!" Like the crumbs we got were what they were going for all along.
Then they share how we got fucked by the process of going from the first "We rock!" to the second.
Do they even remember what they sent the first time?
