I am getting sick of science fiction where a small puncture is a death sentence for the person in the vacc suit.
Even worse in settings where they're doing industrial work where wearing one is necessary.
I've had patch kits in the rules of just about every space RPG I've ever played.

I'll take a native speaker's opinion over Google's any day.
DeleteSlow leak is survivable and fixable. Big tear, not so much. Even then you don't freeze right away like they show, you suffocate a slow and painful death, well, painful until you pass out from lack of O2.
ReplyDeleteEven then, unless you're using one of Bubba's Discount Used IVA suits, the average suit should have a self-sealing barrier of some sorts.
Now, getting dinged in the faceshield or taking a hit to the cooling/O2 backpack/system, well, yeah, not a good survivable event.
