This is why I hate it when conservatives get some power.
They don't roll back gun control but they do start going moral majority on stuff "for the children."
Fine, we don't want kids to access this stuff, but they invariably choose age verification methods which make it nearly impossible for legitimate adults to access it.
This is because it's not about the children getting at it. It's to eradicate it because it's immoral.
Immoral because their imaginary friend says so.
I've been sick of this imaginary friend since the first Satanic Panic and being proselytized at while trying to play Traveller.
Traveller didn't even have the stuff in it that the Jack Chick was worried about!
For fuck's sake, I don't even need the spell checker to know how to spell proselytize thanks to having to learn the word for what they're doing.

I call a lot of conservatives the "Turner D. Century Gang," after one of the lamest villains in comics. If you're not familiar, Turner D. Century was a Marvel super-villain who tangled with Spider-Woman a few times. He'd been brought up in isolation by a guy who hated the 20th century (this was the 1980s or so) and wanted to bring back the "good old days" of pre-World War One America. He wore a suit of clothes and moustache that looked like what you'd see back around 1900 or so, rode a flying bicycle-built-for-two with a female dummy on the back seat dressed in clothes of that era, and had an umbrella that shot blasts of energy. As I said, he's considered one of comicdom's lamest villains.

ReplyDeleteThey're simply big-government Karens who occasionally vote Republican, and would be just as happy if the Democrats passed their silly ideas into law.
Any of the three actual conservatives in office would point them to the First Amendment, and then tell them to go piss up a rope, and suggest they avoid letting the door hit them in the ass on their way out.
I didn't say they were. I said this happens every time conservatives get some power.
DeleteThe only difference is that each side wants to ban different things. Everybody should have the freedom to go to hell in their own fashion. Robert Heinlein was right that a well armed society is a polite society. I've been halfway around the world and back. Lived in upstate NY, traveled through all the states east of the Mississippi River professionally and I can confirm that the well armed areas have the best manners.
