It doesn't matter what the dimensions of the striker that came with the gun are... now.
When I put it back together after the previous post, it didn't click right and racking the slide didn't get the striker reset...
And here I thought these things were safe to dry fire.
Looks like I HAVE to win that auction now.
Dohh!
ReplyDeleteHmm... Looks just like the broken striker in my Pop's early '00s .40s&w Sigma.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like it's a common problem. Sent it back to S&W on their dime to get it fixed.
I'm so glad now he traded it in for a much better gun. (Got more for it, than he paid for it new.)
If it's a common problem, that would explain why there's no strikers in stock anywhere.
DeleteTheoretically someone with a mill and a lathe could hand make a replacement part. But that is beyond my skill level.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what that original part is made of. Does it look like it is MIM?
Definitely an MIM part.
DeleteAnd if I could get some lathe time, I'd finish my HEL-4A suppressor long before I started work on a Sigma striker.
DeleteI suspected MIM just from how it broke. A part turned and milled from a hunk of 4150 bar stock or maybe 304 stainless would be a lot more sturdy. But I certainly understand having other priorities should machine shop time become available.
