Almost half a billion guns in circulation in the US.
And several metric fuck-tonnes of ammo.

Who was that gun blogger who died of a heart attack a few years ago? Hognose?
ReplyDeleteHe was retired special forces and had researched firearm import records as far back as they go (1900-ish, I think) and then manufacturing records. Around five years ago, he said the number of guns in America was between 600 and 800 million. I remember trying to check what I could and thinking he was probably right. Obviously we're beyond that now. It's that old saying: firearms have two enemies, politicians and rust. As you know from experience, rather old weapons are fully functional today if treated with minor levels of care.
That was Hognose.
DeleteI've a couple of fully functional guns which were treated with major levels of abuse. They're ugly, but they work just fine.
You have to actively work at killing many designs.
