Well Dangit

This might be a good day vs bad day deal but:

Brenda at 100 yards with a 1x scope:

Valentine at 100 yards with a 5x scope:

Considering that Brenda was made with severe budget constraints to prove out the "Behind Every Blade of Grass" idea and Valentine was top shelf, I am disappointed.

Or impressed at the deal that the Freedom barrel from PSA, bought at a complete upper, is compared to the genuine milspec from Brownell's.

  1. In my limited experience, barrels marked for 5.56 and/or Mil Spec, are more generously clearanced in the case neck and throat area of the chamber- the cases fired from them are visibly more expanded than those fired from barrels marked .223 in general ( .223 Wylde seems to still be a favorite ) A varmint weight barrel from White Oak with their take on what such a chamber should be was the best single such purchase I'd ever made, I imagine that aside from keeping the caseneck expansion to a minimum, the freebored portion is likely shorter and of more advantageous for accuracy diameter, and the leade of the rifling has got to be something they have proven out for themselves though development of their chamber. Well worth the money. I DO have an upper put together with one of Palmetto's Freedom barrels, and for a low cost upper, it is a peach! I know that the fast twist of the barrel ( 1/7 ) over-stabilizes 55 grain pills, but it is more accurate than I can hold unsupported. The thing about mil-spec is that it must always put rounds downrange under less than ideal conditions.

  2. I have seen this time and again Aenus. I don’t get it.

I’m told by every second gun wank their ARs will go sub MOA. I’ve even seen a few of ‘em do it. Ya think I can do it? Oh hell, no!!!😡

I have a bushmaster outhouse factory gun with a 20” pipe… and best I can do is 1.1 - 1.2 MOA (with precision handloads) so I got choked and built a range gun with top notch parts, match barrel, match trigger, assembled by an armourer… and I get about 1.1 x 1.2 MOA. And it’s not just me… I’ll bet I could hand the pair over to you and you’d get the same. I’d be HAPPY if you got some decent groups out of them because then you could maybe explain it to me.

The gun gods pish upon me.☹️
