Dear everyone clucking like you know what the fuck you're talking about:
A thing you screw onto the end of your gun's barrel to make it quieter is a SILENCER.
How do I know that?
Because that's what it's called in the 1921 patent by Hiram Percy Maxim.
Got an earlier patent for one that's called a suppressor?
Because if you don't, saying "there's no such thing as a silencer, they're called suppressors," just makes you sound ignurnt.
The person who invents something gets to name it.
Maxim named it a silencer.
He could have called them mufflers, because that's the only earlier patent for something that makes the noise from a tube quieter.
