SIG has issued a statement about the P320 and rather belligerently stating there's no problem with their guns.
I'd like to inform SIG that Remington did a better job communicating to the public that the triggers in the Model 700 weren't dangerous and the perceived problem wasn't as widespread as some would have it.
And Remington lost in court.
Noted.
ReplyDeleteFully agree.

Extremely rare ≠ Never.
Tort juries take a dim view of that truth.
Especially since, as noted there, juries will not be made up of mechanical engineers, nor of People Of The Gun.
They will be made up of twelve people too stupid to get out of jury duty.
I was called for jury duty in the federal courts years ago. Such meant being on call and having to show up for jury selection a few times. A couple of the cases were firearms related. Apon answering questions about my knowledge of firearms I was excused on both occasions. The other one was an intellectual property rights case involving software and being a software engineer they also immediately rejected me. In general lawers don't want jurors who "know too much".

Shockingly *neither* side wants the jury to know anything about the topic at hand.
DeleteThat's correct. People who know anything about the topic can't be as easily manipulated and are likely to do things like ... the right thing, regardless of silly legalities. No matter which side you are on that can lead to things not going your way.

I've got nothing against SIG but I have never been all that tempted by the P320. I'm happy with my Glocks and P80's. Hopefully Polymer 80 will be re-born now that Biden is gone.

I have Glocks and STI 2011s.
ReplyDeleteI must confess that I shoot the 2011s better than I shoot the Glocks, but that is probably because I started shooting handguns with a genuine Colt 1911A1 some mumble-mumble years ago, and the Glocks are a more recent addition to my collection. The grip angle difference throws off my long-ago learned habits.
Here in Oz, the P320 isn't an option (legally) as the barrel isn't long enough to meet the arbitrary minimum limit imposed by the government, so that's another reason that I am somewhat glad that I am not enamored with that gun.
