I got into a little tiff on Facebook about the value of metal detectors in several places in Orlando.
They took the position that such things were a small thing to deal with when it's keeping mass shootings from happening.
I countered that most, if not all, mass shootings in Florida have occurred in such gun free zones.
They then posted a list of mass shootings in gun free zones.
I said, "Thank you for supporting my position."
They didn't understand and a third person had to explain it to them paraphrasing what I was saying.
I hope it was a revelation for them and they change.
you can't fix stupid Angus...the anti-gun morons will never get it...bad people don't follow the rules or obey laws...panzer guy
ReplyDeleteIf they want to fix mass shootings, they can start by being a hell of a lot more proactive about locking up crazy people. That guy who shot Gabby Giffords, the Parkland shooter, the guy at Virginia Tech...every last one of them did everything short of hiring a skywriter to write: "I am crazy---lock me up!" (I'm not so sure about Gang Lu at the University of Iowa---but I've read that the other Chinese students knew there was something very wrong there and tended to avoid him.) Back in the beautiful, halcyon 1950s, you could buy guns mail-order, and even full-auto wasn't THAT difficult to lay hands on ("dewat" machine guns were for sale in magazine ads...oh, to have lived then!) but mass shootings were all but completely unknown.
