Full Auto Martini-Henry
It's actually a lot simpler in there than I thought it would be.
It seems more complex because everything is all separate and not integrated like later guns are.

That's neat. It's kind of a contraption with all the moving parts and rotating linkages everywhere, but honestly looks fairly effective. Wear and/or mud would be issues, but absent those it looks like a decent way to do things for the age.
ReplyDeleteFrom most accounts the things just worked and did well in the mud.
DeleteThey weren't more widely adopted because Denmark refused to export or license the design to maintain their neutrality.
