Silence
I live almost exactly a kilometer from a busy 6-lane road.
While in Iowa I noticed the silence of being many miles from such a road.
I'd internalized the constant hiss and rumble of thousands of cars going by just over 3/4 of a mile from here.

Iowa is sometimes kind of surreal in its deadness. I feel like I've escaped from Mordor when I depart it's boundaries.
ReplyDeleteThe inlaws have declared they will be moved to Florida by winter, come Hell or high-water.
DeleteThus eliminates any need for me to return there.
That will definitely reduce your travel expenses. Now you just need to get the Fuzzy one to move so they can turn out the lights up there.
DeleteI'm just a mile from I-40 and I still hear the constant noise. The only time it is silent is when there is a big snowstorm and it gets shut down.
