I've been watching a series of videos of a guy making 1/200 scale battleships with ALL the photo-etched details you can buy and gobs and gobs of research.
First was USS Arizona (BB-39) and currently it's a 1944 representation of USS Missouri (BB-63).
The Alpha to Omega of WW2.
What's really fascinating about the Arizona build is you can see several refits and rebuilds in the structure by how things go together.
With Missouri, you can get a sense of the why things are with the details in focus like they are.
