There's some excellent and very affordable glass out there for a Canon running an EF/EF-S mount.
The wee little Canon M50 I'm obsessing over has an adaptor from the native M mount to the far more common EF/EF-S.
Even better is Canon did their homework when developing the M mount and made it so the adaptor placed the EF/EF-S lenses in the correct geometry to work as they would on a normal EF/EF-S camera and all of the functions built into the lens would work properly.
I've found some very nice EF lenses for way under $100.
You just have to skip image stabilization.
For a lot of shots you don't necessarily need it, it's nice, but not always a requirement. Especially since some of these lenses are very low f-stop stuff.
I fear commitment until the roof is fixed and the torque tube is settled.
