All images taken from as close as the auto-focus would bear and as steady as I could make my hands hovering over the target. Camera was in Program mode and allowed to run as it saw fit.
Admission: I still need better illumination.

The old camera is no slouch when it comes to macro... Set to Super Macro in program mode with ISO locked to 80.
Added a small LED flashlight shining in from about 11 o'clock that ended up illuminating by bounce off the face of the lens because it's damn near touching the coin.
