I don't have the lights I want to illuminate it, but I think I've begun to grasp what advice I've been given. I need to get some. The dedicated Macro lens I'm eyeing has a ring light built in, but it's a few months of saving away.
Thanks SiGraybeard!
Glad to help. Another point: you can get by without better lights if you don't hand hold the camera. That's what tripods are for. Lacking a tripod, setting the camera on a book or something solid can work. A way to release the shutter without pushing on the camera and moving it helps, too.
ReplyDeleteSame idea as not moving a gun while pulling the trigger.
I used to do a lot of tabletop macro, back in the film days. Camera on a tripod and two clamp on flood lights. Critical focusing before autofocus (my eyes were much better when I was in my 20s, like pretty much everybody). Pictures of flowers or small stuff.
Another tool for the tool-chest; post processing software.
ReplyDeleteI use the free suite call 'paint.net'. Powerful stuff

I've got a copy of Photoshop Elements 6.0 on Ye Olde Ancient MacPro.
DeleteI'm something of a purist in that I want to TAKE better pictures, not MAKE better pictures; So I rarely use the Photoshop I've paid for.
