When the switch on my MX991/U appeared to have failed, I ordered a new one from Amazon.
$20 gets you a made in the USA, Fulton.
What I wasn't expecting was to see how much the color had changed on my old one!
Now I have two functional and near bullet-proof flash-lights. Even if they are short on lumens by modern standards, they are functional.
I've been meaning to ask: Why are those flashlights at a 90-degree angle? ISTR my dad had one like that once, although Heaven knows what ever happened to it.
ReplyDeleteSo you can use it hands free with it clipped to something.
DeleteI never made good on a threat I made to myself to make a simple DIY survival kit using this light. The ribs and protective wings allow some some tools to be stashed on the light, then duct taped in place. A small BIC or ferro rod on one side, the other a Leatherman Micra multi-tool perhaps. A good amount of wire could be wound around the base of this light - good heavy duty repairs can be made. The bottom lens container - take your pick, a narrow round metal container could hold water purifying tablets or spare heart medication would be nice to have on board too.
ReplyDeleteThat is about it - don't want to increase the bulk, just enhance it.
jrg
Change the incandescent bulb for a drop-in LED unit and you should get more light and longer run time.
ReplyDeleteThe old light is already rocking an LED. It makes less light than the new one because of scratched up lenses! ;)
DeleteI plan on getting the LED for the new one as well.
