Stuff You Forget To Check

Having had XM in the car for so long, I'd forgotten about CD players...

The player in The Beast works with both conventional audio CDs and MP3 disks.

8-hour playlist burned and in the slot!

The new radio, which I hope to install on Tuesday, supposedly has on-board storage for CD's, but I have no idea if that's just CD-A format or if it allows MP3 files.

New radio will also have USB, Bluetooth and 3.5mm aux. input, making the CD and onboard storage somewhat irrelevant.

Though I did frequently play the MP3 discs I'd loaded into the changer on The Precious...  And I used the 3.5mm input to use my phone and iPod too.

Not as often as I'd just used XM, but...

  1. I keep thinking that I should put some language drills on CDs and play them when I'm on long road trips.

  2. I need to replace the crappy Delco AM/FM radio and speakers that came in this little Colorado I have. I'm leaning towards a Kenwood like the one I have in my C4. I'm somewhat reluctant to pay for another XM subscription though. They really should give a big price break to people with more cars than drivers, because obviously I can't be listening to more than one unit at a time...

    1. I enjoy XM a lot, but I think that if I can't get it working in The Beast, I might consider taking it out of Moxie as well.

    2. I mostly listen to XM38... wish there were cheaper options for more limited channel sets. I don't have XM in my C3 because it doesn't get driven enough to be worth it. I have an Onyx receiver, but it isn't activated right now. Theoretically I could activate it and then move it from one car to another. I used to use it in the C3 sometimes and in the house, but it wasn't getting used enough to be worth paying for the subscription. Now that I'm not commuting and the C4 isn't getting driven a lot, I'm not sure it is worth having that one on...

    3. i have a thumb drive with 2700+ songs on it...i believe the toyota with a newer entune will take a 64 gig thumb but currently using a 32 gig...i rarely listen to the radio since i can listen to my own music...and entune plays them in alphabetical order by song if that's how you want it to play...panzer guy
