I am inspired to begin training to tackle the highest peak in Florida.
Britton Hill.
It is 345 feet above sea level.
The summit is an arduous 40' from the parking lot base camp at 343'.
Marv and I are putting together climbing gear and considering oxygen.
On the bright side you won't need crampons :D
ReplyDeleteMan Angus, that sounds as rough as the hike my boy is currently doing. They left camp HQ yesterday it's at 6,700' and will take 8 days to travel 45 miles hitting two campsites on two different mountain peaks well above 11,000', 11,700' and 11,400' if I recall correctly, plus several other campsites between 9k and 10k. Best of luck to you and Marv. :)
ReplyDeleteEric.
You laugh, but I used to bike from the NE section of Gainesville to my house, past the NW section of Gainesville, on SR222. Started on a very slight slope upward, then once I got past NW 43rd street the big dipsy-do hills began, getting increasingly deep/tall.
ReplyDeleteDuring the summer.
That totally sucked.
You should get yourselves at least two Sherpas, just in case one dies on such an arduous outing.
ReplyDeletemy heeler is staring at me and wondering why i'm laughing...panzer guy...
ReplyDeleteTo quote from the web-site "If you'd rather not walk you can drive to the park, and perhaps have a picnic."
ReplyDeleteBe sure to plant a flag and post a picture. Make those pikers Peary, Amundsen, and Hillary (not that one) jealous.
