My C&R FFL expires this year.
I have the renewal packet sitting on my desk.
I am trying to decide if I am going to renew it.
It's been handy a couple of times, I admit.
The best reason I can come up with to not renew it is being lazy.

Had one in the late 90's and sometimes I miss it? Since I escaped IL I've been looking at getting one again but the "golden era" of cheap milsurps and ammo seem to be long gone... Or am I just not getting the correct information?
ReplyDeleteI faced the same question recently, I stopped buying stuff with it when the prices got ridiculous, as in a 91/30 costing more than a modern budget priced 30-06. I renewed it anyway because it is cheap and I never know when it might be handy.
ReplyDeleteEvery time mine comes up for renewal I go through the same mental exercise. I have yet to use mine to make a purchase, but in Kommiecticut it is the only way to get a direct delivery from the CMP without going through a full FFL. I don't care much for the record keeping and ability of the ATF goons to want to inspect your premises for storage and inventory. But then I am reminded that once you have it to keep it, because you may not be able to in the future.
ReplyDeleteNever did get one myself, but a bunch of folks at one online forum I frequent did, strictly so they'd qualify for "dealer" pricing on non-firearms items that only required an FFL on file.
ReplyDeleteI haven't renewed in a while. There have been a couple of times I've wished I'd had one because of something tempting, but so far I've resisted the temptation.
