Of late I've been getting some pretty serious heartburn.
And it's of the sudden onset variety.
That's led to more than my fair share of panic attacks.
I've discovered that knowing that I'm having a panic attack doesn't do much to slow the heart down and relax.
A couple of hours of steady breathing exercises and actively trying to relax usually does the trick.
It's fascinating in a morbid kind of way that knowing that my chest pain is gastro-related does nothing to prevent the panic.
It's like there's a subroutine that goes, "pain in this region will cause a panic response from the lizard brain, ignore higher functions and enjoy the adrenaline."
Gotta love it!
