    The past truly matters, and that is why the collectivists must destroy it. After all, this is one of Orwell's most famous quotes:

    "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."

    Those who love liberty must contest control of the present sufficiently to deny the collectivists control of the past.
