A long while back, on Marv's advice, I bought a Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker.
It's been keeping my pocket knives sharp.
Today I remembered the DVD that came with it and the endless "But can the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker® sharpen a <insert item>?" Answered with a, "Of course can!" That a straight razor was one of the items was something I'd forgotten.
I managed to dull my straight razor with an ill timed strop and it's been that way for about nine months. I despaired of getting it sharpened because there's so few people still using them. Except well heeled hipsters who shave ironically and just replace the $300 thing when it wears out.
Wears out? These should last a lifetime and I ain't dead yet.
Turns out all I needed to do was remember the video and apply the knowledge.
My razor is once again razor sharp.
While I love my Harry's razors, I prefer a straight shave on my face. Harry's are wonderful for my pate.
This also reminds me, do you have the tools to maintain your tools? That's certainly something worth writing a prepper type article on concerning sharpening. Click here and here and here, because someone else already did!
