Gun Nerding

Watching the miniseries prequel to Yellowstone, 1883, and I spotted something I would not have noticed even a few years ago.

Sam Elliot's Colt revolver has post-1896 features.

Half moon ejector and push-button cylinder pin latch being what I noticed.

It's not ruining my enjoyment, it's just interesting that I noticed.

  1. Saturday night, AMC was playing THE SON, a series based on south Texas. Many of the weapons there are rarely pictured. A lot of semi-automatics used (1915 time frame) and even a Winchester SLR in 351 Winchester. I don't recall any other TV or movie featuring that model. My paternal Grandfather had one of those Winchesters when he was a south Texas shopkeeper way back. Not enough law men to go around, so many of the storeowners were expected to pitch in and help when trouble happened. He never used it for shooting anybody. I never saw it in person, but I recall a couple of photographs with a much younger Grandfather holding it for the photo.
