I realized that it'd just be faster to put it to paper than to deal with AutoCAD.

Yup - faster to draw on the back of a napkin than draw on CAD, let alone graph paper. Graph paper helps keep your notes aligned. A small drawing triangle / straight edge and mechanical pen - lead holder helps even more.

But on CAD, when I realized I'd put the switch too close to the relay, it's a lot easier to move one.
DeleteThere's a free schematic capture program called TinyCAD. I've used it to make schematics of things I've built around the house. You might want to take a look.
ReplyDeleteIt's not PCB layout - maybe there's a way to do that I don't know about. It's just easier to draw than with stencils and quad paper.
