Don Johnson's character in Miami Vice is seen with BOTH Bren Ten magazines.
This is proof that they did make more than one magazine.

If I remember correctly, the Dornhaus - Dixon company was asking for an even $2000 for the pistol.. Seems a bit excessive to me, but with the name Jeff Cooper attached to it, anything was possible.
ReplyDeleteOne of my Brother's friends had a Colt Delta Elite 10 mm Auto 1911. It was beautiful. But he knew going in that shooting it extensively would hurt its future value. I'm not sure if he still owns it or not - I hope he got its full value back.
jrg
It could be just Hollywood magic. That whole Bren Ten magazine fiasco is truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteApparently Dornaus & Dixon should have contracted with Mec-Gar. As an aside has CZ ever tried a 10mm of their own?
ReplyDeleteMec-Gar has been approached to make magazines. There's so much variance between Bren Tens that you really cannot produce magazines with any chance of success. They'd have to be fitted to the gun.
DeleteA strong clue that this is so is Triple K not even trying.

ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago, I was attending a symposium in a state sort of in the mid-South: one of those places where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.
ReplyDeleteA congenial group of us went out to dinner one night, and a couple of us found ourselves explaining to one of the younger members of the group the 1986 Miami FBI shootout, the history of the 10mm, and the Bren Ten.
During this lecture session, one of the other members of the party (who had earlier mentioned he had a Bren Ten) leaned over and confided in me, “And I have *five* magazines!”
I know this sounds like a tall tale, but given the nature of the group, I believe this story.
