I just got done reading someone trying to move the goalposts in an argument about grooming children.
The Leftist brought up the fact that there have been several scandals about priests and reverends grooming kids; therefore The Right is OK with grooming.
Put down the dialectical materials, kid.
The scandal of the church doing grooming was more about their attempt to hide the grooming than the crime of grooming itself.
And there is no inconsistency with condemning LGBT grooming and clerical grooming because it was, and is, being condemned for being the crime it is.
The Right has always condemned grooming, no matter whom, and tenaciously kept at it until some punishment gets meted out.
About the worst you can say about them here is they were slow to acknowledge the crimes had happened because of denial that a trusted cleric could have done such a thing while being quick to believe a drag queen did.
But you might find the speed of belief now is from feeling guilty about not acting faster the first time.
Yet the Left's favorite Unionized Employees (teachers, that is,) seem to get a skate from both sides as long as it's female teacher on male student. Punishments are rather less than Male teacher on student, as both sides tend to have the "Gee, kid scored big on that one" attitude on Female teacher vs Male student.
ReplyDeleteAnd the boys are definitely groomed, often brainwashed, to perform for female teacher.
Then there are all the scandals of Child Services that seem to get swept under the rug because Child Services is also a darling of the Left.
Gah. Hates them all.
I don't understand the assertion that "... several scandals about priests and reverends grooming kids" means that the Right is OK with grooming kids.
ReplyDeleteThat clearly says to me to be saying that the Right is NOT OK with grooming kids.
If It were otherwise, why the scandals?
I think they are making the Church = The Right assertion. The Church did grooming, therefore The Right is OK with grooming.
DeleteSpeaking as someone with zero invisible friends, and considering myself decently right of center... The Church is NOT The Right.
But they're not seeing all the places where The Right opposes grooming and pederasty.
We object regardless of whom does it.
I beg to differ with that assertion - in my experience the Church is reliably LEFT.
DeleteYes, the Right does object to grooming, and that's NOT a recent thing.
Mumble-mumble years ago, when I was but a stripling in high school (probably what Americans call middle school - barely a teenager), I was quizzed by my parents about a particular teacher, and any strangeness in his interactions with students.
Only later did I learn that:
a) said teacher was homosexual, but discreet about it
b) parents of students at the school had only recently become aware of this
c) parents had concerns about his (possibly sexual) interactions with students - what we now call grooming
I was completely unaware of any of this, being too green to burn, but parental concerns were noted by school administration, and apparently, certain um - forceful - statements were passed to the teacher in question.
I've been listening to the current crop bitching for a while. They think the Churches are all right wing and in lock step with MAGA Conservatives.
DeleteBut nobody hates like lefties hate each other. Communists vs National Socialists is a great example.
The left wing thinks everybody on the "right" side of the aisle is a raving fundamentalist loon who beats off to The Handmaid's Tale regularly, and takes the Wholly Babble literally from cover to cover. When I try to explain to people like that that there are such things as right-wing atheists (and pro-choicers) they stick their fingers in their ears and go "LA LA LA I can't hear you!"
