I've had the first one for decades, in fact I made it from looking a picture rather than buying the kit.
The pick-up in the center came in a kit I got to get a particular mini-fig for a friend.
The new Blue one is a reissue/update of a 1995 kit. One I didn't get back then. I became aware of it because Lego gives you one for "free" if you buy $85 of other stuff at their site. Or you can spend $15 on ebay!
