The annual meeting will be held in Springfield at the Springfield Expo Center.

Which state?

It's not like it's an uncommon name for a town.  Wisconsin has six of them, for example.

Via Wiki: According to the U.S. Geological Survey there are currently 33 populated places named Springfield in 25 U.S. states throughout the United States,[1] including five in Wisconsin; additionally, there are at least 36 Springfield Townships, including 11 in Ohio. Database studies reveal that there are several more common U.S. place-names than Springfield, including Fairview and Midway. The name "Springfield" is common in the British Isles: one example being on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
