There are only two (maybe even four) gun shops left to check for a local acquisition of a 5-1/2" barreled artillery model.
Both are inconveniently located and one is even a slog.
The one that's a slog is also one that's always felt somewhat "off" to me.
The vibe of the place is wrong in a way I can't quite put my finger on.
The easier to get to place was one I hit often and now... Well they never seem to have anything I want when I have money; so I just stopped checking.
The two other 'maybe' stores are places where the gun I'm looking for might just wander in on its own; but it's a hit and miss proposition.

I'm not suggesting this as a solution: I'm asking more out of curiosity.
ReplyDeleteHave gun shows started up again in your neck of the woods?
Gun shops in Austin have been open ("essential businesses") but I don't think there have been any gun shows recently. However, our two big gun show purveyors currently are claiming they have shows scheduled (in San Antonio and Dripping Springs) for July. One of them is saying there will be a show in Fort Worth next weekend, but that's a little far for me to drive.

There was a show in Tampa last weekend.
DeleteI stopped bothering with the local gun shows a while ago.
Same vendors, same stuff, no deals to be had.
The Arfcom AAR for the 7/20 show is:
"Holy crap, I have never seen it that backed up. Traffic was backed up on 301 and I4. From the time we paid for parking, it was over an hour wait to get inside, and this was at 9am. When we left at 11:30, the line was still 200 yds long, and traffic was still backed up on 301.
Prices were high, ammo and accessories were rolling out the door, beef jerky and Trump was in stock.
Forget about buying a gun though, wait times for the background check was quoted at 5 hrs."
