Eureka!
Winchester PDX1 Defender .410 2-1/2" shotgun ammo has been a tough nut to crack in GURPS terms.
It's not quite buck-and-ball (High Tech p. 173) because it's got those three discs.
Then it hit me! The disc is a triplex round!
So generate the buck and ball normally with the BB size shot. Then calculate the triplex from the reduced ranges of the ball and you're done!
The "slug" is now a Rcl 1 x3 shot and the buck is a Rcl 1 x12. So it's x15, or 3x15 when fired from something silly like a Taurus Judge or S&W Governor.
Resolve as written... The larger projectiles are handled first, then the smaller.

Note that damage...You need to roll a 6 to do a point of damage. Oops, that's just for crushing damage! All other attacks do a minimum of 1 point regardless of negative modifiers, so 1d-5(0.2) pi- always does 1 point of basic damage. DR 0 things get DR 1, so that point is nullified on anything. pi- halving the damage that penetrates is just icing on the cake.
Your only chance for doing any damage at all is under the Flexible Armor and Blunt Trauma rules on p. B379.
Let's assume a skill of 14 in Guns/TL8 (Shotgun) and we aimed one turn.
At three yards we're -1. +8 for the number of pellets. +5 for Acc. That's 14+5+8-1 for 26 net.

Not Back Up Irons
The Savage 93F (Wal Mart Edition) has iron sights installed, which you can see in the pictures.
But they're not back-up iron sights in the traditional sense because the scope bases block them.
If your scope failed and you needed to get the gun back in action you'd need to remove the bases before you could use the irons.
Better have your screwdriver!
My kit includes a screwdriver. Even a Swiss Army Knife would suffice. I prefer the Super Tinker for day to day pocket ballast.

The people who make the content being sold not being paid for what they've created.

The content creators may or may not be.
The question is, can YouTube weather the storm of a strike if the content creators walk?
Probably. Most of their users are people who post videos just to share them, not to make money off them. In that case, it's free for the uploader and ads cover the price of hosting the video and its transmission to people who click on it.
I still stand amazed that conservative types cannot create equivalents to things like PayPal, YouTube or Ebay when we're supposed to be the ones who're good at businesses and capitalism.

I called Savage with the intent of ordering a trigger assembly, as mentioned here.
The rather unfriendly person on the phone curtly informed me that such things were gunsmith only parts and required an FFL to order.
When I inquired as to why, looking for a way around it, I got what boils down to, "there's no reason, it's just our policy."
Fine.
The wonderful folks down at Deer Hunter Guns had no trouble ordering it for me.

Equal Application
Since we have protected classes and categories of people whom we cannot refuse to do business with...
...and growing categories of businesses whom it's OK for banks to refuse to business with.
It seems to me, out of simple fairness considering all the special considerations that banks and banking get that they should be required to do business with any person, entity or company that is operating within the bounds of the law; no matter how repugnant or offensive you find their wares.
Crack dealer? OK to refuse.
Gun shop? Must do business with.
Pimp? Sorry, no accounts.
Seller of nazi memorabilia? Make sure you tell them about your low home loan rates too!
Why would I want to extend this sort of force on banks and financial institutions?
Because someday it could be YOUR now fashionable and correct business that's fallen out of favor.
It makes a level playing field.
That means paypal has to prove you sold that firearm illegally before they can close your account and freeze your funds.
It means that your business plan for getting rich selling guns is the driver rather than the fact you plan on selling firearms.

Considering that Amazon has the exact same products for $40 less than the new price, coupled with Prime's free two-day shipping instead of that insulting UPS Mail Innovations crap you actually charge money for...
Guess who got the order? You'll never guess.

All .270 Winchester, all 130 grain bullet all loaded to an advertised muzzle velocity of 3,060 feet per second.

This is all in pursuit of finding what loading the rifle likes best. Savage lists Winchester 130gr Ballistic Silver Tip as their 100 yard targeting evaluation round; I should get a box of that too.
In GURPS terms they're all treated as hollow-points. This changes the damage from 7d pi to 7d(0.5) pi+. That doubles what DR there is and gives DR1 to unarmored targets then multiplies what penetrates by 1.5.
Normal ball ammo does 7-42 points of damage with an average roll of 24.
Against an unarmored torso that changes to 9-61 with an average of 34.
Against vitals they become near identical with ball getting 21-126, 72 average and HP doing 18-123, 69 on average.
Against a skull (DR 2) ball will get 20-160 averaging 88; hollow-point will get 12-152 averaging 80.
Hollow points performing more poorly on vitals and brains is because the bullet size modifier is not applied, just the hit location modifier. Ball ammo appears to be academic for the .270 since it's not a military round there's no JAG to approve or disapprove of the bullet construction and since it's a hunting round, it's all expanding ammo.
Hand Cannon Comparison
Here's another GURPS conundrum. The Anaconda and the 629 weigh almost the same. The ammo weighs the same.
.44 does more damage and goes farther, but needs a higher ST and has a stiffer recoil penalty. It might load slower, but I think that's an unresolved bit of errata in my tables. Price comes out in the wash and legality class is identical.
3d-2 pi+ on an unarmored body hit does 1-24 points of damage with an average of 12.
3d+2 pi+ on the same target does 7-30 points with an average of 18.
Let's assume a skill of 14 with Guns/TL7 (Pistol) and a ST 11.
The penalties for shooting at the 1/2D ranges are -11 for .45 and -13 for .44. This just isn't going to come up unless your GM hands out the points like Monte Hall. A skill 14 doesn't even get a roll to hit past 150 yards anyways!
At 10 yards, it's a -4 to hit. If you aim, +2. If you fire double action -1. Net 11.
With the Anaconda a roll of 11 hits one round, 8 hits two and a 5 hits three. 62.5%, 25.962% and 4.63% respectively.
With the Smith, a roll of 11 hits one round, 7 hits two and a 3 hits three. 62.5%, 16.204% and 0.436%.
Since the average to hit roll is going to be 10, both guns waste two rounds on average! However, the .45 is 50% more likely to land two shots and ten times as likely to land three.
Put another way... Out of 300 rounds fired, .45 will land 86 rounds and .44 will land 77. Using the average damage that means 1,032 points for .45 and 1,386 for .44.
If you have a ST 10 like most people (but not most adventurers) you've an additional -1 for being a point short. That changes your chances to hit a bit, needing a 10, 6 and 2 or 50%, 9.259% and 0%. That should land you 58 hits though for an average of 1,044! Still better than .45 huh?
What you do get with .45 Colt is the ability to use ammo all the way from 1873. .44 Magnum can chamber and fire .44 Special from 1907 (with reduced damage and range but also reduced recoil) or .44 Russian from 1870 (with even more reduction in range).

There's nothing more fun than doubting if a scope is mounted level because the crosshairs are canted when resting on a bipod.
Either the bipod has one leg longer than the other, its base is canted or the swivel stud it's mounted to is off center.
Because I've checked that the scope is level with the gun now.
This just doesn't come up with scopes with built in bases like you often see on AR's.

The round is popular because the ammo is reasonably cheap and the rifles are too; but that's changing. The rifles are climbing in price as is the ammo. But it's only popular in those surplus rifles. I don't think I've even seen a modern gun in 7.62x54mmR. The closest is modernized Mosins.
Once the surplus is dried up... well Americans just don't seem keen on rimmed rifle rounds that don't work in a lever gun with a tube magazine.

So any shot will be a net -4 or -5 to skill anyways. To the -0 to hit body. So a given shooter is less likely to be able to utilize the extra 200 yards of the .30-06 because it crosses a range band!

The Perfect .44 Magnum Revolver
A Colt Anaconda...
... in .45 Colt!
Right now she's wearing Hogue monogrips rather than the stocks she came with.
Colt embedded a flanged nut in the mold of the stock and if the previous owner used Loctite to hold the screw in, then the nut spins right out of the rubber. I'm attempting a fix now, hope is low.

Polish
Attempted to eliminate some creep on the rimfire Savages last night.
So we polished on the sear some.
Mine went from a very gritty and creepy 5-1/2 lb to 4-1/4 lb. with just a bit of stagey creep when you first start pulling. Marv's saw a similar improvement.
Better.
A problem is the pull is erratic. Every once an a while, it's still very gritty. Every once and a while it's a pound heavier. Every once and a while, it's both.
I think I want to try mounting an Accutrigger® to mine.
I found (I think) the part number at Savage: One Piece Trigger Assy RH AT E-Recvr - p/n 700027 for $47.
The main wrinkle is that it's a gunsmith only part, so you can't just order it online. I'll have to call them and ask how a shadetree mechanic could get hold of one.
PS, the serial number range for the Wal Mart 93F in .22 WMR appears to be 2592494 through 2619732.

My personal interest in this is my buddy Garry.
He's got a fairly aggressive form of prostate cancer and rather than being dead, experimental treatments that are funded by donations like this have kept it at bay.
To the point that his doctor thinks his bum ticker will get him before the cancer! OK, it's not all good news.

Did You Rehire Dan?
Something that sticks out in this CBS article.
The repeated use of the phrase "registered firearms".
For example:

What registration?
Florida doesn't have gun registration. Nor do most states. Even some of the states with registration are actually "it depends"!
Oh wait! This is how much NFA is in each state! Not a good proxy for gun ownership at all since NFA could be banned and Title 1 firearms be readily available. Iowa is a good example of this when I lived there (I don't know if that's changed or not).

Optics Mounting Problem
Marv has mounted a scope on his Savage 93F. It's some sort of UTG thing. I can't tell you what model it is because it don't say on the scope and their web page don't acknowledge it.
Notice that the rings are at the extreme ends of the scope's tube?
He'd better hope he likes the location of the eye relief, because he's not moving that forward or back.
It just underscores two things for me.
1. Get the dimensions for both your mounting points and the scope tube.
2. The cheaper the vendor, the less likely it will be you have those dimensions before you order.
Also note the illegal in New York ten round magazine!

The act of owning a FUDD rifle has not made me despise my AR's and think they should be banned.

Rebates And Sales
The 93F was marked down to $99. Savage offers a rebate of $25 on it. Net $74.

The Long And The Short Of It

.270 Win and 6.8 SPC are half of the rifle rounds offered commercially in .277 caliber. There's also .270 Weatherby Magnum and .270 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM). .270 Win and 6.8 are also as similar as .30-06 and .300 Blackout.
Axis And Ammunition
The package series 10/110 and 11/111 guns from Savage come with the same magazine as the lower tier Axis rifles.
In 2005 Savage converted from a double stack, double feed magazine to a double stack, single feed they call "center-feed". What's interesting is the sheet metal, including feed lips, is identical between blind magazines, hinged floor-plates, premium detachable box magazine (DBM) and the Axis line.
The only difference between the Premium DBM and Axis DBM is the magazine floorplate and the surround for the magazine well. The Premium magazine's latch is part of the rifle and built into the mag well surround. The Axis magazine latch is aplastic space-age polymer hook and the surround has a shelf for it.
Converting to the Premium DBM means a new surround (p/n 106706; $78)* and at least a new floor plate (p/n 106104; $24)*. It might also require a new trigger guard (p/n 107217; $26)*.
Replacement Axis magazines for a long action are $34.38* from Midway. Replacement Premium magazines are $42.50.*
I can't easily find a price for a replacement bottom for the Axis magazine.
*YMMV these are the part numbers for my gun, other calibers and finishes may differ.
