Forty Five

All three of these are in .45 caliber.  But only the 1911 is associated with the caliber.  The Anaconda is more commonly associated with .44 Magnum and a Glock is more commonly thought of as a 9mm.

Which made me think to take this picture:

All three of these guns aren't in the caliber originally developed for them.  The Pocket Hammerless is in .380 ACP rather than .32 ACP.  The Government Model is in .38 Super rather than .45 ACP.  The Anaconda is in .45 Colt rather than .44 Magnum.  The Glock 21 is in .45 ACP rather than 10mm ACP.

  1. The Glock 21 was never in 10mm. The Glock 20 is (along with the 29, of course). The Glock 21 was actually developed before the G20, but when the FBI decided to start issuing their agents pistols in 10mm, Glock put the 21 on hold and came out with the G20. I recall that clearly, because I was going to buy a 21 (I'm a fan of the .45 ACP) and was horribly disappointed when Glock suspended the manufacture of the already developed G21 in favor of the G20, thinking the 10mm would be more popular and might even be able to worm its way into the hands of Federal shooters like the FBI, Customs and Border Patrol, etc., providing brisk sales for Glock.

Fast forward from the early nineties (when I was finally able to buy a G21) to now, when I finally broke down and bought a G20. To shoot "bear loads" - 10mm hand-loaded wide nose, flat point, hard-cast bullets loaded hot. Not quite as potent as my Redhawk in .44 Mag, but fifteen rounds vs six (and no time to reload!) made the decision in favor of the 10mm. A friend of mine in Wyoming (former Recon Marine) who also lives in bear country talked me into it.
