I decided to use liquid electrical tape to cover the RTV rather than paint.
Three bad things fell from this decision.
First, I bought white instead of black.
Second, I discovered it was white by dropping the tube and crushing it trying to catch it.
Third, I sliced open my thumb taking things apart to clean up the mess.
SIGH
