CUCV III

The Chevy Colorado, Milspec edition.

Proving, yet again, that there's need for a fucking Jeep that isn't intended to stand up in an environment where a Bradley is getting stressed.

I remember when the Humvee was that vehicle...

  1. Hey Angus;

    I remember the CUCV, the M1008, M1009 and the 1028, for some reason the Military decided to buy a bunch of vehicles from General Motors after releasing specifications that "Just happened" to match the specs from GM and not Ford or Chrysler. We always figured that someone in the puzzle palace owned stock in GM and pushed through the idea of buying a boatload of trucks and turning them into tactical vehicles.

    1. The original CUCV (though it wasn't called that), the M880/M890 were from Dodge.

  2. I loved driving my M151 "Jeep". There was also a Dodge M880 in the motor pool.

    Currently, my FD has a 1984 M1008 COTL (Commercial Off The Lot) set up as a brush truck. It carries 250 gallons of water with a Honda powered pump, Class A foam, a couple thousand feet of forestry hose, and all manner of brush tools. The M1008 was for carrying the slide in commo shack, so it carries our stuff pretty well.
