You Can Do What Now?

Reading a thread where someone is pulling the motor from their 4th Gen Camaro.

They've gone through all the work, with pictures, to get the engine and transmission out the top.

They're justifiably proud of this, but...

Someone just noticed that they have a lift.

"I see you have a lift, did you know you can unbolt the drivetrain and just lift the body off it?"

No.  They did not.

  1. Years ago I was driving a dodge caravan through the mountains of western Virginia when the timing belt failed. We got towed into town. I hoofed it to the parts store and got the timing belt. $25 and thought I was hoping free.

Next day is Sunday and I'm standing outside the bay as young man starts working on getting the old belt off. Three or four old hands are in the next bays yacking and pointing at the kid, laughing.

Not a single one offers to help. I go in and start assisting. Owner comes over and tells me I can't be in there because insurance.

I ask him which of the jokers laughing it up is going to be helping the kid. Owner walks away.

Three hours later we still don't have the belt out. I'm standing up stretching when one of the jokers comes over and whispers in my ear. "Ya gotta take off the passenger side wheel and go in through the wheel well."

Ten f'ing minutes later we've got there old belt out and the new belt on.

Sometimes it just takes somebody pointing out the other option
