Makeup Day

On Memorial Day, I've a tradition of hitting a strip club, having a beer and tipping a dancer.

It's a strange sort ritual honoring Fred Gabow.

I've mentioned Freddy before, his ex-wife is in prison for conspiring to murder him.

A successful conspiracy, which is why it's the Fred Gabow Memorial Lap-Dance.

The reason why is a, "You had to be there with us," for it to make sense.

Wu Ping Cough closed the clubs for Memorial Day.

They've recently reopened.

The question is should I just wait for next Memorial Day, or should I hit one soon as a make-up day?

  1. I have a little tradition honoring my little brother after he died from cancer at 46. I wouldn't miss it, even if I had to delay it temporarily.

Drove past a strip club yesterday. The marquis outside said, "Still Clothed". Got a chuckle from that.

  3. Do a Make-Up day. But do it on Halloween. The clubs around here (Wisco) throw some banging parties (cause according to Lewis Black, we have some kind of federal grant for drinking)

  4. It seems to me that, if you've made the decision to do this, and your personal morality etc. is okay with doing this, then the question becomes: what's the generous thing to do?

I imagine it has been hard on the dancers having the clubs closed for so long and not having that source of income. I think it would be a mitzvah to do a make-up visit and tip a dancer as generously as you can reasonably afford.

When I go out to eat (and not just get carry-out) I've been trying to do the same thing: leave generous cash tips if the service is really good, because I know it's been hard for the waiters and waitresses as well. I kind of feel like dancers fall into the same category.

  5. The obvious solution is to do it on Veterans Day and then again next May.

  6. I can't believe this is even a question. I do believe that Counter Jockey has offered an excellent solution to your dilemma.
