Throwback Thursday, anyone?
This is my main ride from when I was stationed at Panzer Kaserne, Böblingen, West Germany with 1st Infantry Division (foward), A co, 3-34 Armor.
She's an M1 (IP). That means M1A1 armor and bustle rack, 105mm gun.
This was taken not long before we upgraded to the M1A1 (HA).
Way back in the middle of the last century 1970-2. I went to Böblingen elementary school at Panzer Kaserne, Böblingen, West Germany .
ReplyDeleteHey Angus;
ReplyDeleteAnd I was at Cooke Barracks in Geoppingen. We probably were in Germany the same time , I was in Geoppingen from 1886 to 1987 before I went to Stuttgart from late 1987 to 1991.
i was at panzer, 86-88...same unit, cav scout...it's no longer there if you didn't know...not a real base like it was when i found it on google maps...
ReplyDelete3-34 had 19D's? I did not know that. I thought all the Cav-Scouts on post were with 1/4 Cav across the way from us there. We inherited their 19E's when they shifted to M3 not-Bradleys.
Delete1-16 was the gruntfrunty on the other side of the post and I will die a happy Thag if I can remember the engineer unit.
we had 113's and 901's...they may have got bradleys after i left...the 3 buildings that make the U near the front gate, lived in those barracks...
