Then I Realized

I was reading about Russia still making Il-76's.

Before I even finished the thought of, "damn that's an old airframe!" I heard Lockeed/Martin laughing all the way to the bank making new C-130's.

  1. The C-130 has been around longer. Serial number 3 is still mission capable and is named "Spirit of Savannah". I has been at the 165th Air National Guard down in Savannah GA since it rolled off the assembly line in Marietta.

  2. The C-130's are a great airframe, got to fly in them a fair bit back in the 1970's, with modern electronics and modern turboprops they will go on forever. Now if we can convince uncle sugar to keep making the A-10s all will be well in the close in warfare world.

  3. Peak tuboprop design still is.
The M1911A1 and M2HB BMG say "Hi!"
