I can't say that I knew much about his actions in real life, but it seemed that he was a decent person in the media, and as an example of what the average baseball player goes through.
ReplyDeleteThat he lasted as long as he did was I suppose a good thing, although I had an Uncle who outlived all of his friends, and his wife. He was miserable in his later years, finally ending it at age 91 with a gun, just as he told me and several others that he would. I am glad to say that not only was he my favorite Uncle, but I drove the 40 some miles to visit him in his last year many times. He just couldn't stand the loneliness.
"JUST a bit outside!"
