Another Thing That's Harder Than Necessary

Getting the damn tether for the gas cap separated from the gas door.

WTF GM?

The green rubber-like substance on the original cap is a full 1/8" shorter than the new cap's.

I guess it was time.

  1. Hope you are lucky and it is just a dried out gas cap seal. From my experience it is usually the rubber sleeve with two clamps that connects the tank itself to the fuel intake door assembly. The rubber there does not hold up and cracks right where the clamps go. Then there is the vent and evap cannister, all of them with bloody little rubber hoses that also age and go brittle. Best of luck and I hope you don't have to drop the tank yet again.
