10 USC § 1065
“(d) Eligibility Of Veterans With Service-Connected Disabilities.—A veteran with a service-connected disability shall be permitted to use commissary stores and MWR facilities on the same basis as a member of the armed forces entitled to retired or retainer pay."
Not sure this is great or meh.
Hey Angus;
ReplyDeleteIs there a minimum on the service connected? All I have is 10% for hearing.
As I understand it, there's no minimum number as long as it's service connected.
DeleteMy leg only rates 10% too; but I'm in the slow, agonizing, process of getting it upped.
It's useful if you live next to a base, as commissary prices (if you shop correctly) can be as cheap or cheaper than a SuperWal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteThe package or booze store is usually the real money-saver, from what I remember.
And access to the MWR facilities, like their wood and metal shops, would be a Godsend to someone like you.
Again, if you lived close to a base.
Now, as to those MWR facilities, that should include access to discounted entertainment locations, like Disney and other theme parks, and special prices and accommodations at or near those locations, too.
Now that I think about it, the MWR benefit may actually be one of the real good benefits you may enjoy.
Metal shop you say? I might finally be able to finish my suppressor!
DeleteOoooohhhhm, snarky...
DeleteBut, yeah, usually a metal shop and a do-it-yourself auto repair shop. So you can build a gun to shoot yourself in the foot after you screw up working on your own car.
The website I got linked to from the VA Newsletter said 0% to 100% disability rating.
ReplyDeleteYou do need to have your VHID, though. If you don't have that, contact your nearest VA office.
