Shocking

Two things from this photo from this article.

First: They still make Hamm's?

Second: It's outselling Miller Lite, PBR, Coors and Miller High Life?

  1. Ahhh yes Hamm's the beer refreshing. We used to drink that and PBR by the truck load back in the 80's, also Shaffer and Old Mill Water, along with some Milwaukee's Beast. As far as the Silver Bullet goes if it's the crap made outside of Co i.e. the Shenandoah Valley I'm not surprised it's not selling. Tastes like shit.

  2. I don't see the prices. In that, you might find the answer.

  4. Hamm's is still made, but the brand is owned by Papst (as it PBR obviously, plus many other brands like Lone Star, Pearl, etc), which doesn't actually operate any breweries anymore. So they contract all their brewing out to Miller. So most likely High Life, Lite, PBR and Hamm's in that picture were all brewed at Miller-Coor's megabrewery in Fort Worth. Last time I heard they only brew Coors and Coors Light at the brewery in Golden, CO, but that could have changed since then. And Weer'd is probably on the right track as to why there is less Hamm's on the shelf. Around here it is priced below any of the others shown. In fact, it is usually one of the least expensive brands around here.

    1. Five brands, two "breweries" one brewer.

Next bottle-share should be a comparison of these everyman brews.

It will make us appreciate the abundant pico-to-micro breweries here in Tampa!

    2. Coors Light is also brewed in Elkton Va. All Coors Banquet is brewed in Golden Co.

  5. There is a lot less difference than similarity for all of those. Main differences being that some use corn as their adjunct and others use rice. And "light" vs. "regular" is basically changing the amount of malt used plus changing the process like sparging longer. They may use malt or hops sourced from different places, but all in all, pretty much the same thing. Given that, one can't necessarily blame the people who might choose Hamm's just based on price.
