OK.  Outside lights have changed man...

Yesterday we were shocked at how affordable LED floods were.

Today we added a light to the corner of The Inlaws house in the back to cover the shed.  They had a halogen fixture with a dead halogen bulb in it.  Those bulbs are a little spendy and the don't last for shit.

So we decided to replace the entire fixture.

We went and found a suitable housing that accepts screw in lights, went to the light section to get the same cheap lights we'd got yesterday and noticed that there's lights with the motion detection and dawn/dusk sensors built right in for just double what the cheap lights went for.  $20 instead of $11 for the lights.

But a housing for those lights with motion and dawn-dusk is $35.  $11 without the.

$31 for a cheap housing and motion light-bulbs.

$46 for a motion housing and cheap light bulbs.

Uh...

And, because of how it's placed, the motion sensor built into the fixture would have been masked by the gutter and not activated in a pretty big arc.  The sensors built into the lights have wider coverage and will activate individually.

Incidentally, we finally proved that the switch labeled "Do NOT Shut Off!" controls the light on the corner.
