Ich Bin Ein Neanderthal

Unlike some people I've actually been researching Neanderthals.

They are far more like us than different, to be honest.

Perhaps they did think differently from Cromags.

They aren't around any more.

Or are they?

Thanks to The Human Genome Project, finding recoverable DNA in Neanderthal dig sites and places like 23 and Me; we know that a significant portion of their genes are still with us.

Similar enough for nookie apparently.

Even more fun, we're learning that people carrying Neanderthal genes inherited some decent survival advantages too.

Probably not a good plan to be going around insulting people because of whom their ancestors were.

I'm old enough to remember when that was racist.

  1. It's only racist when conservatives and other enemies of the Democratic Party do it.

  2. Or the genes were transferred to our gene pool by the first part of rape and pillage. I would not be surprised if was practices by both sides.

  3. You don't have to do a lot of boring reading to find out all you need to know about Neanderthals. Just do what I did; watch "Quest for Fire."
    Here's what I learned:
    1. Neanderthals were violent and dangerous.
    2. Saber-toothed tigers were more violent and dangerous.
    3. Rae Dawn Chong looked damn good.
If you need to know any more (I don't know why you would), watch it again.
