I've read, and seen nothing to contradict it much, that the Russians are slowly grinding it out and advancing. Though not near as ambitiously as it started.
While a war of attrition is not the preferred means of victory, it's a proven one if you have the stamina and resources to let it run its course.
Such victories, though, are often of the Pyrrhic type; that's why they are not the preferred way to do it.
